Pink Lake

Location: approx. 720km south-east of Perth

Why this magnificent sight and tourist destination is a great choice for you!
Located approximately 720 kilometres south-east of Perth on Western Australia's southern coastline (about an eight hour drive or two hour flight from Perth), the Pink Lake is not a sight to be missed. A selection of lakes filled with majestic magenta waters (and, occasionally purple!). While they are all amazing, the most breathtaking of all is undoubtedly Lake Hillier. Even scientists can’t comprehend why the lake is pink, although it is suspected it has something to do with the minerals in the waters. However, grandchildren should be so chuffed when hearing about how you visited the lake filled with strawberry milkshakes! Hidden behind giant sand dunes (some of which 50m high!) are lush forests with a variety of Australian animals.

I have never seen anything like it. It is worth the six hour drive just to see it. Apparently it is not pink all the time. We fell lucky. If I hadn't seen it pink it would be a good excuse to go back.

We stopped off at this lake on our drive back to Perth from Monkey Mia. We arrived about mid day an the lake was the most amazing colour pink! Not much to do apart from see the lake, but glad we did as it was a spectacular view.
